Student academic annual awards
The Joliet Section of ACS is pleased to announce the Joliet Section Students Academic Awards for undergraduate chemistry students within our geographical Section. This award will be given annually for achievements in the following five areas of chemistry: Analytical/Instrumental, Biochemistry, Inorganic, Organic, and Physical.
Nominations for awards will be reviewed by a selection committee consisting of the Joliet Section officers and professionals with expertise in the areas listed above. Nominees will be evaluated based on the following Criteria:
-
Performance – this is mainly based on exceptional classroom performance in the designated area of chemistry.
-
Scholarship – this includes classroom and laboratory research, investigative research, internships, etc.
-
Service – this includes service to the community, campus, department, etc.
The selection committee must receive all nominations for awards. A nomination FORM must be filled out by a faculty with expertise in the designated area of chemistry, and address the above selection criteria. All nominations can be completed using the nomination form below.
Faculty members may nominate no more than two students for the same award. Only one student will be selected in each area of chemistry among all nominated students.
Faculty and their honored students and family members are invited and encouraged to join us at the ACS Joliet Awards Ceremony and dinner.
Honored students will receive a Certificate of Achievement and a Monetary Award.
ACS Joliet will be hosting the awards ceremony for the 2021-2022 academic year on Wednesday, April 20th. This event will be in conjunction with our CCEW event.
